Best book review I have received to date, and the most anticipated novel I have written. I wrote over a dozen novels in the last fifteen years and only this year began releasing them. Every new novel shows my improving style and prose.

What We Keep in the Quiet: Abigail by Jeff Scott2 is a tale of ambitious, corrupted desire that collides with eerie abilities and dark forces that stop at nothing. Abigail is at the center of it all, pulling strings, just as Ilsa would have liked, to put herself in positions of power, at least through her husband, Roger. But amidst this, a piece of the puzzle is missing, a secret, or rather a revelation only murmured by those who came before Abigail—the book is soiled: there’s a hollow line. The answer lies with the secrets and deceit only known by the orchestrator.

I loved how gripping this novel is. The tension build-up is gradual, with a moderate pace in the first half, bracing you for a suspense-filled final half. Jeff Scott excels in blending a modern world in Shelbyville with the rare touch of horror-infused elements. The dialogue, especially the exchange between Abigail and the voices in her head, was both chilling and intriguing, making this an engaging read. One key thing that stood out is how the author crafts the protagonist, Abigail, more like the villain, and, at the same time, a character with admirable tenacity. The author dispenses only enough to heighten the reader's urge, and this kept me glued to the end.

There’s much to appreciate in this novel, and nothing to criticize. The language is simple and relatable, and the editing is exceptionally well done with just a few punctuation issues. The only thing worth pointing out, and which is not a flaw, is the ending. The story ended in a way that suggests this could be a series; I hope so. Overall, I enjoyed the read, and there’s no reason to deduct from the rating: I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

I’d recommend this to readers who enjoy crime and dark fantasy with a blend of horror. This book contains profanity and sexual content, which suits the plot well but might not resonate with some readers. ~Akenga Evenson~

I just got my new book cover designed by Jessica Silva. Ignore the lines they will disappear when the book is printed.

This is the final backstory to set up this series. You may ask yourself, "Why did you spend so much effort on these backstories?" Great question; I will tell you.

When I get into the series, Dominion Protocol, I want to explore the characters more and write shorter novellas. The backstories are all over 80k words. I find for myself that about 70k-80k word novels move faster and have less boring filler.

I want to concentrate on the Protagonists, Prose, and Character development after the trauma each of these characters suffered. I want to begin with this crew together as a team not explaining how they all met.

I hope you as a reader can understand this reasoning. Sharp as you all are I know you can. The release date for Iniquitous Mind is March 30th +/- a day. I hope you will enjoy this fast paced medical thriller about Dr. Stephen Jessen and his wife Steph.
